In which Emma reinvents herself...
Well, the deed is done. Emma the Ford Focus has become a registered member of the Carolina car community. No longer will she be subjected to curious looks, comments negative and positive, or the occasional rude behavior she has had to live with just because Big Brother requires her to wear a demeaning number on her chin that declared her foreign-ness. And while in her heart she still believes it was cool to be a California girl, and that this wild Western sun-baked past still defines her somehow, she also now likes to blend into the crowd here, incognito, observant. She's glad, though, that her new number doesn't seem to be an unknown Biblical verse code. And while its encripted message is still sorely lacking in mnemonic features, she likes the hue of blue and the theme of flight. This blue is "Carolina Blue", reputed to be that special shade of blue particular to these celestial parts, a lovely hopeful clear shade of blue that adorns Tar Heel uniforms and all things UNC. And "First in flight", which is also featured on the state quarter, refers to the accident of history by which the Wright Brothers left Ohio to test their flyer on the soft windy sands of Kitty Hawk, NC.
Mike brought the tree in from the backyard today, I think we'll have to trim it tonight over jazz and Vietnamese pork tofu soup. They said the magic words this morning, night time temperatures are dropping and clouds are moving in, we may get some snow flurries Sunday night! Have a good weekend folks!
