Real Estate Follies
Sorry for the hiatus folks, but last week was a doozy. We bought a house! It went on the market Tuesday morning, we saw it that afternoon, put in an offer that evening, and signed the contract to buy the next evening. Mike and I are still pretty shell-shocked, but this house is such a sure bet that we were sure we couldn't go wrong.
In all the weeks we've been looking at houses, we've been helped by Realtor extraordinaire Kandyce Ellis. She's with Community Realty here in Carrboro, a (no way!) non-profit real estate agency (way!). Kandyce was so excited when she found out about my blog that she started one too, check it out at carrbororealestate.blogspot.com. Anyway, the concept of a realty working as an arm of a larger non-profit economic and community development tool is just too progressive to seem possible, but here it is.
So we broke every rule, that in our quest for a walkable old charmer to fix up, we got a new(er) house in a subdivision. A testament to how powerful great design can be that it can swing inveterate downtowners as we are. All I have to say is this: plan a trip to see us soon! We will have the room to accomodate you in style!
